What is your definition of a professional Carpet Cleaner?
I hear the comment all the time “I need to get this carpet professionally cleaned.” If someone comes in to your home and takes your money to clean your carpet does that really make them professionals?
If you are a business and hire a cleaning service and they clean your carpets does that make them professionals?
Well I am of the opinion it takes much more than a person willing to take your hard earned money. It is important to me that a professional is studied in their field of expertise. If you have a provider of janitorial services that does; carpet cleaning, carpet repair, duct cleaning, tile finishing, hardwood floor finishing, leather cleaners, color dying service what is their area of expertise? Have they gone to school? Do they study manufactures maintenance requirements?
Here are a few of things that I would consider quality control checks for a, we do it all janitorial service.
- Is there vacuum empty when the start there work day? A vacuum can lose between 40-80% of its lift when a quarter full.
- Do they use a deep clean or light clean? Shaw industries suggest one deep clean to 3 light cleans in a good maintenance program in a commercial setting.
- Has your service explain the importance of walk of mats? It takes approximately 25 feet to get soil of your shoes after you leave a hard surface.
- Can your cleaning technician tell you the PH of the pretreatment?
My list could go on but I have talk to a number of janitorial services that have good intentions that do not consider training for quality a priority. I personally like “The Clean Trust” formally called IICRC as a source of quality training on most cleaning fields. They provide classes and certifications that are designed to protect the consumer. Look for and ask if you technician is with a certified firm and if they have a certification. This does not guarantee a professional but you will at least have some measure of knowledge.
I will work for money does not make a professional. If it did we all would be playing a professional sport for a living.
