Preventive Maintenance Part III
Daily Maintenance
Daily maintenance includes all daily maintenance that extends the usable life of the carpet. The two most important procedures of daily maintenance are vacuuming and spot cleaning.
Vacuuming is the single-most important soil management procedure. The purposes of vacuuming are to reduce the soil load in order to extend the time between cleanings and prolong the life of the carpet. Over 80% of the dirt that enters a building can be removed with thorough vacuuming. It is surprising that so little attention is given to this important area of maintenance. Most maintenance staffs spend 25% of their time vacuuming the carpet where 80% of the dirt is trapped while 75% of their time is spent cleaning 20% or the dirt from other surfaces.
Spot cleaning is equally as important and should require less time. Be cautious of cleaners in a can. They generally have whiteners in them and if not flushed / naturalized the may cause color loss or permanent damage to the fibers. Refer to our spotter guide or call us if you have a problem that you cannot handle.
As always we are availible in Mt. Juliet and the Providence areas for commercial and residential cleaning.
